It’s No Act
Ten years in the making.
Three months in recording.
One month in manufacturing.
I’m very proud to have this new recording to help usher in another level of shameless self-promotion.
Recorded here in Jo Ann-land Studio, which is our garage,
we have once again distilled a somewhat technical process into a homemade product.
Thanks to my extended family of friends, we were able to record, mix and master this collection of songs.
Duplication and printing was done by Disc Makers.
The album title came from a conversation I had at an art show.
An art show participant invited me to the party after the show.
He said, ” You can come and do your act”
I responded, “It’s No Act”.
Another conversation somewhere else, I was bemoaning the fact that so many of my friends sing and play so much better than I.
This person said, ”But you can play the guitar and the harp and sing all at the same time”.
I responded,” Oh yeah, I’m a real dog and pony show”.

So that’s what we’ve got, a real dog and pony show, that’s no act.

All the songs in this collection are written out on connected pages with lyrics and chord changes. My system for notating music has been named Tray-lature. This system is based on the real music notation and Microsoft Word. It goes like this………
Anything in between [ ] is generally 4 beats [ E ] means 1 bar of E
[ % ] means repeat the bar before [ E ]%] means 2 bars of E
[ E ] x8 means 8 bars of E
[[: :]] means play anything in between these marks twice and move on.
// can mean stop…….. some other notation will probably come up
It really helps if you kinda know the song, so just play along with the CD.
